The UK tour of & Juliet has made exciting new casting announcements for the remainder of its tour.
Jay McGuiness will step into the role of Shakespeare for performances from Bristol to Nottingham. Best known as a member of the Irish boy band The Wanted, which soared to fame with hits like 'All Time Low' and 'Glad You Came', McGuiness also won the 13th series of Strictly Come Dancing and has been in musical theatre productions such as 'Big!' and 'Sleepless: A Musical Romance'.
Expressing his enthusiasm about the role, McGuiness said, "I love these songs; Max Martin has written hit after hit. I've really missed singing and dancing as the last thing I did was a play, so I'm excited to get back into it. And I love the & Juliet costumes, especially Shakespeare's."
Joining McGuiness in the leading tour cast are Gerardine Sacdalan as Juliet, Jack Danson as Romeo, Kyle Cox as Francois, Lara Denning as Anne, Sandra Marvin as Angelique, and Jordan Broatch as May.
& Juliet turns the classic tale on its head by exploring what might happen if the tragic end of Romeo and Juliet never occurred. With Romeo out of the picture, Juliet ventures to France to mend her broken heart, accompanied by her friends and a soundtrack full of pop hits. Juliet embarks on a journey of self-discovery.
