Fisherman's Friends at Queens Hall

Why see Fisherman's Friends?

A Sea Shanty Shindig

See Britain's best loved sea shanty group, Fisherman's Friends, live on tour in the UK in 2024! Long before the recent Wellerman Tiktok craze, the Cornish singers were arguably the first modern group to bring shanty singing back to the mainstream. Singing old sea songs together in their Port Isaac hometown since the mid-90s, the group unexpectedly signed a million-pound record deal with Universal in 2010 and were catapulted from their lives as fishermen and coastguards who loved to sing, into national folk music superstars.

Since then they've made regular huge festival appearances (including on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury), toured regularly and now even have a movie and musical telling their story. Expect a night of joyous harmony, infectious folk songs and more than a barrel o' laughs to go with it.

Fantastic music, cramped seating, stage so far away

We didn’t think the theatre was that nice, to be fair. Cramped walkways and very cramped seating, with knees right up to the back of the seat in front, we were quite hemmed in, which was uncomfortable. Would have been nice to have been able to get up for the toilet but it would have a pain getting past so many people. We saw several people fall over, it just felt so cramped. We could see the stage but we couldn’t really see the faces on stage clearly, they were so far away. Circle K we were in. If you want to see the faces clearly, I think you should be a fair bit closer. I would not recommend taking anyone elderly or infirm. Local food and drink is great, plenty of choice. A fantastic concert though, loved it. ... Read more
